Chasing Time Update

We are happy to share an update on Chasing Time from his new owner, and his former MyRacehorse partner, Holly Ann:

“I wanted to thank everyone for their good will wishes on Chasing Time. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. God has blessed me with one of the biggest blessings in my lifetime with being the winning claim on Chasing Time. He is and has been my true love and spirit horse the last 4 years. He is home and in a barn where he will always be loved and cared for… I will be creating a page where all his former MRH partners and fans can continue to follow him. And just like I always promised to do, he will be available to be visited no matter where he is stabled by his former partners.”

Holly let our aftercare team know that Chasing Time did bleed in his last race, so they have been treating him for that and allowing him time to slowly return to light work – she also shared the above photos and recent video of him, so please enjoy!

Chasing Time Race Recap

Chasing Time was third this afternoon, and was claimed for the $40K (pending post-race vet inspection as always), which we certainly knew was a possibility. Trainer Carlos Santamaria was the claimant.

He ran well, showing good speed and mounting a three-wide bid into a sharp pace. The pace came apart a bit late after those quick early fractions, but Chasing Time continued to fight on well to the wire. It’s certainly fair to say that was the proper level for him, and perhaps with a more patient ride he could have been right there on the wire.

As always, we will keep a close eye on him going forward and, if ever warranted, will make every effort to aid in his retirement and post-career placement. It’s important to keep in mind that the claiming tag today was still on the relatively high end and he’s been a pretty healthy and sound horse, so we see no reason at this time that he can’t continue to race safely for his new connections. He showed lots of desire to race today.

Chasing Time Update

Chasing Time came back from Sunday’s race in good order. He earned a 76 Beyer Speed Figure–the same number he ran in his start before that. No decisions have been made yet as to what’s next for him, but we’ll certainly let everyone know once we we’ve mapped out a plan.

Chasing Time Workout Report

Chasing Time breezed a half-mile in :50.60 on this inside of stablemate Promising this morning in Hot Springs. Your son of Not This Time traveled with good energy and always looked as if he could draw away from his mate if asked to. There is still no money allowance option (race restricted by recent earnings rather than overall race record) offered through February 2nd at Oaklawn, so we may need to consider some class relief and potentially run him for a high claiming tag ($62,500 or $80,000), which is likely the right spot for him anyway at this stage.

We will catch up with trainer Steve Asmussen following the weekend of racing and finalize a plan.

Chasing Time Update

Chasing Time has transitioned to galloping at Silver Springs and was spotted on the track this week. He is currently galloping one lap and jogging one lap. Our son of Not this Time looks well physically and continues to improve every week. It should not be long before he is ready to ship back to trainer Steve Asmussen.

We are pleased to report that Chasing Time arrived safely to Silver Springs. Our son of Not This Time will now enjoy his much-deserved break and we will follow up with additional content as he settles in.

Chasing Time Post Race Update

Chasing Time exited his recent third-place finish in good physical order and shipped to Oaklawn Park’s Ten Mile Creek Training Center following the race. He earned a 93 Beyer Speed Figure, very close to his 97 career-best and a major improvement compared to his recent races. See above for a copy of his updated lifetime past performances. Trainer Steve Asmussen was pleased to see our colt back to his true self and reported he likes Oaklawn, just as we were hoping the case would be when he returned there this winter. The son of Not This Time rarely disappoints on this track and his recent performance proves it. While we talked about giving him a break after this start, all parties agreed we need to ride out the Oaklawn meet. Steve reported he is sound and happy and we’ll be sure to give him a well-deserved break once the meet ends.

We will see how he progresses and trains in the coming weeks and report back with our plan once we have any news to share.

Chasing Time Workout Report

Chasing Time worked an easy half-mile this morning over a wet fast Oaklawn Park main track, covering the ground in :49 flat. As you will see in the video, your colt skipped along down the stretch while under a hold from his exercise rider Brooke Stillion, and galloped out well. At this time, we are going to wait for an allowance race for your son of Not This Time and will follow up whenever we have a clearer picture of when that race will be.

Chasing Time remained on schedule and breezed five furlongs in 1:00.60 this morning on the all-weather track at Turfway Park. Pending everything remains in good order, your son of Not this Time will have one final work before shipping to Kentucky Downs and aim for a six and one-half furlong allowance race at Kentucky Downs on September 2nd.

Chasing Time shipped to Turfway Park and had his first breeze since his race this morning, working a half-mile in :52.60 on the all-weather track. While his last race took a little bit out of him energy-wise, he is back in a regular training routine and we are excited to announce our next race target at this time will come at Kentucky Downs. On September 2nd, there is an allowance race which is restricted for horses that have not won a graded sweepstakes on the turf in 2023 for a lucrative purse of $180,000.

Even though this will be your colt’s first attempt at the turf despite 18 starts on the dirt, it has been something that has been discussed on multiple occasions. Between his three other siblings to race, there have only made two starts over the turf which were unsuccessful but his stallion, Not This Time, who was recently valued at 100M by one of his stallion shares selling for 2M at the recent Saratoga Sale on Monday, has been proven by his offspring on every surface. Not This Time is also currently represented by the #1 ranked turf male in Up to the Mark. Chasing Time’s dam, Race Hunter, was a winner on debut over the lawn in England before shipping to the U.S. and mostly competing on the Tapeta which is a synthetic material more comparable to turf than dirt.

Given we proceed with this race option it will be an interesting experiment that could give us some more race options moving forward.
