Riddler Update

As some of you likely saw, Riddler was entered in a $15K maiden claimer for next week at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

This admittedly caught us by surprise. We have since discussed the entry with trainer Steve Asmussen and will be scratching from this spot. Steve has not been impressed with Riddler’s training of late, and of course Riddler did not show much in his first start off the lay-off, but we would like to give him more of a chance to develop before dropping to that sort of level. We will most likely move him to Remington Park and look for a race there as the competition tends to be a bit easier than it is in Indiana

Riddler Workout Report

Riddler breezed a half-mile in :51.80 this morning at Turfway Park, which can be seen above. As is typical for trainer Steve Asmussen, he is gradually building him back up fitness wise and not asking Riddler for much speed. While the time wasn’t fast, because Riddler has some foundation under him from Highlander, he was able to move right on to a half-mile in only his second work back on the track. Most importantly, he seems to be moving well.
