We were out to see Givememythememusic this morning at Winstar Farm, where he was out for a jog over the sloppy training track. Farm Trainer Neal McLaughlin is overseeing your son of Game Winner as he starts back up. He reports all is well thus far and your gelding will continue to jog for the time being as he eases back into a training routine.

Givememythememusic has had a quiet month at Miacomet Farm. All is reportedly going well with his rehab thus far. He is sound walking in hand and will be rechecked around the third week of August, which is approximately 60 days from his original diagnosis. We would expect another low key month until his recheck, but will pass along anything of note that comes our way.

We spoke with Miguel Clement, who has now taken over as lead trainer with the passing of his father. He has recommended we send Givememythememusic to Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY for an evaluation by top vet Dr. Larry Bramlage, which will include a nuclear bone scan. He just feels that something is bothering the chestnut and the scan and full work-up by Dr. Bramlage will be the best way to get to the bottom of things definitively. While we certainly never hope or root to find something when performing diagnostics, in this case it might be good to have a legitimate explanation for Givememythememusic’s back-to-back poor showings. We’ll let Miguel sort out arrangements, wait for Dr. Bramlage’s report and go from there.

Givememythememusic has continued to train well out of that last afternoon appearance, and recorded his first official breeze back yesterday—covering five furlongs in 1:03 flat. With that being his first work back from the race, the barn wasn’t looking for anything too fast.

The tentative plan is still to point for a first-level New York-bred allowance next month at Aqueduct—the question now is whether to try a mile again (Apr. 11) or cut back to a sprint (Apr. 25).

There’s still some time for Team Clement to mull over those options.
