A Day to Remember was moved to San Luis Rey this week from Del Mar as trainer Mark Glatt opted to bypass running him back at Del Mar following his bleeding episode. He has remained in a gallop routine, but Mark wants to be sure he has had sufficient time to allow his lungs to heal. He will likely rejoin Marks main string when he ships back to Santa Anita.

A Day to Remember was entered in Saturday’s finale at Del Mar, a first-level allowance which will be contested at one mile over the turf course. Your son of American Pharoah drew post 9 (of 11) with Abel Lezcano returning in the irons. Post time is 7:00 p.m. PT. We will follow up with a race overview in the coming days.

A Day to Remember looks to be in good order out of his dominating win yesterday at Santa Anita Park. Your son of American Pharoah earned a career-best 87 Beyer Speed Figure and a copy of his updated past performances can be seen above.

A Day to Remember recorded a bullet half-mile work yesterday morning at San Luis Rey Downs. He stopped the clock in :47.20 and is reportedly doing exceptionally well according to trainer Mark Glatt. As we have previously reported, we expect A Day to Remember to likely have another two works at San Luis Rey before transitioning back to Santa Anita. Assuming all continues well, a return to the races in late April seems well in range.

A Day to Remember transitioned from TriFecta to San Luis Rey this past Thursday and has started up jogging. Your newly gelded son of American Pharoah will jog for approximately 30 days before turning around to gallop due to the extent of his time off.

A Day to Remember just checked in third beaten a half-length in his comeback race at Del Mar. He broke a half-step slowly, but quickly moved up to chase the eventual longshot winner in second. Your chestnut seemed to have that one’s measure as they straightened for home, but he never found that extra gear he needed to to power past and was tagged for second by another foe who came up the inside.

Jockey Umberto Rispoli felt that perhaps A Day to Remember was waiting on the other horses a bit, and did note that it seemed like he needed the race from a fitness perspective and should step forward next time with that start under his belt.

It’s no doubt a bit disappointing given the expectations we had for this race and the short odds he went off at, but A Day to Remember didn’t run a bad race by any means and we have something to build on now. We’ll see how he comes back and hopefully get him back out there for another run at Del Mar next month.

A Day to Remember breezed five furlongs in 1:01.20 Sunday morning over the Santa Anita training track. Your 3-year-old colt worked on the outside of a highly regarded unraced son of Ghostzapper, Gettingawaywithit. Everything continues to be progressing in the right direction.

A Day to Remember was spotted galloping yesterday morning at Santa Anita. Your 3-year-old colt is still in the early stages of galloping due to the on-and-off training caused by the recent weather in Southern California but we are still progressing in the right direction. Following a few more weeks of galloping, we should start to see him pick up some speed work.

A Day to Remember remains in great order at Sunshine Farm and is very close to returning to trainer Mark Glatt. Our team had the opportunity to check on him earlier this week and he looks great. As previously mentioned, he has added some weight during his time off and naturally lost some of his muscle definition but that is nothing he won’t gain back once he returns to training. We expect your colt to ship to Santa Anita mid-month.

A Day to Remember is approaching the 60-day mark at Sunshine Farm in Bradbury. Our son of American Pharoah has remained in good order and pending an additional few weeks of R&R, we expect him to ship back to Mark Glatt’s barn at Santa Anita towards mid-December.
