Madame Secretary was back on the tab this morning, covering a solo five furlongs in 1:02 flat under Jose Contreras. Unfortunately,\u00a0her work\u00a0was disappointing again. We caught up\u00a0afterwards\u00a0with trainer Richard Mandella,\u00a0who reported, \u201cit\u2019s a bit of a head scratcher.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe has been sound and there are no changes physically,\u00a0but in this case it appears to be more mental than anything,\u201d said Richard.<\/p>\n
Upon further discussion,\u00a0we have opted to bypass the aforementioned race next week and Richard believes it\u2019s best to take a step back and freshen her up for Del Mar this summer. The plan\u00a0as of now is to keep her in the barn,\u00a0but that\u00a0could change. We will let Richard and his team continue to monitor\u00a0Madame Secretary\u00a0out of this work and finalize a plan this coming week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
