Catalyst Race Overview & Lottery
Catalyst is back in at Remington Park and will look to kick off the card on Friday, Sept. 12 with a victory.
She’ll be the #6 among a field of 10. Post time is 6:00 p.m. CT.
Many of the same entrants from the previous version of this race are back in and it still looks like a good spot for your filly to attempt to clear her first-level allowance conditions.
Best of luck. Click here to enter the paddock lottery.
Here’s more on the rest of the field:
#1 Cafezinho – Comes in off a good effort when fourth against Texas-bred stakes company. Was a winner earlier in the year at the $30K claiming level. Note that jockey Stewart Elliott chose to ride Catalyst over this filly.
#2 Boltoro – Will attempt to compete with allowance company having had most of her success in the claiming ranks.
#3 Peak Earnings – Was the controlling speed last time out when second, just ahead of Catalyst. Expect this one to send for the lead once again.
#4 Miss Mozzetti – Not entered in the prior race, this fairly lightly raced sophomore was second last out at the level when making her first start beyond a true sprint distance (we’d consider 7 1/2 furlongs to be more of a route than sprint despite the fact it’s shorter than a mile). That race did come against straight 3-year-olds, and now she’ll take on older foes, but she does possess some upside and would be no shock.
#5 Sabres – Switches to the grass where she is 0-for-5 in her career while also stepping up to the allowance level following a string of starts in the claiming ranks. Though she won by nine lengths last time out, the competition in this race is much stiffer. Could apply early pressure to Peak Earnings.
#7 Wild Steel – New shooter like Miss Mozzetti, and was fourth in the same race that one exits. Definitely prefer the other sophomore to this one.
#8 Flyin Withthe Boss – Last seen getting distanced in a dirt sprint. Did run two good races in similar spots last season, just missing in both, but she’s clearly not in the same form of late and could run into pace troubles here regardless.
#9 Cactus Blossom – Has done her best work in the claiming ranks and as last seen finishing fifth in the same race Catalyst exits. Would be a surprise.
#10 Ron’s Lavender – Last seen finishing off the board in a pair of races at the obscure Gillespie Fairground in Texas. Makes first start for new owner/trainer who has not had many runners. Nothing to like about this one.
