Restless Rider ’23 Update
Restless Rider ’23 has been in steady training since Aug. 4 at Highlander Training Center, but we have opted to give her the last week off. She was nearing the point of being ready to breeze, but the Highlander Team didn’t love the way she was traveling up front as the intensity of her training started to increase. Highlander’s veterinarian did a routine physical exam and some other diagnostics, but found nothing of particular note or concern. Our resident veterinarian Dr. Berk and the Highlander vet, Dr. Stephens, have been in communication over the last week to determine the best path forward. With no tangible physical issues to consider, the plan we have landed on is giving her an additional week to 10 days and see how she responds when returning to training around mid-month. At this point we don’t see any cause for major concern–young horses, as many of you know, experience plenty of growing pains and small bumps in the road. Patience is almost always the key and that’s what we’ll exercise here.
