HORSE OVERVIEW
From a stakes producing family with tons of potential, this New York bred son of 2020 Kentucky Derby winner Authentic is headed to the barn of top trainer Christophe Clement, who has produced Grade I winners such as three-time Eclipse champion Gio Ponti and Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist. Clement himself not only co-bred this horse, but also campaigned his dam and several siblings, and was very adamant about keeping Savvy Sassy ’22 in his barn!
Our team scouted this impressive yearling by Authentic at the Fasig Tipton New York Bred Yearling sales. A $360,000 purchase with RT Racing, his co-breeder and current MyRacehorse trainer Christophe Clement, who is best known for his successes with such stars on both dirt and turf, approached our team and wanted to be a part of this young horse’s journey. Clement himself has trained this horse’s dam as well as his siblings, so we’re very excited to anounce that this son of Authentic will join Clement’s string on the East Coast. Though immature at the moment, which is very similar to his sire at this age, this March 21st foal’s conformation paired with his classic-breeding indicates to our team he may have a future in two turn races. He is eligible for the lucrative New York bred program.
Breeding Insights
This yearling hails from the first crop of Horse of the Year Authentic, who should need no introduction to the MyRacehorse community as the horse who brought us G1 Kentucky Derby glory in 2020. The Bob Baffert trainee’s other victories at three included the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, G1 Haskell S., G2 San Felipe S. and G3 Sham S. He racked up more than $7.2 million in career earnings, and as expected has been a hot commodity at stud thus far—he was the leading first-crop sire at the sales in 2021, and remains by far the market darling in 2022. His first yearlings have averaged $446,333 through the Saratoga sales, while the next first-crop stallion with more than one sold has averaged just $233,410.
Authentic’s sire Into Mischief is the record-setting four-time champion general sire. Other sons of Into Mischief are beginning to have their own success with runners on the track including his son, Maximus Mischief, who is the leading freshman sire of 2023 as of this writing.
Dam Savvy Sassy (Street Sense) has already proven herself to be a producer, with her first two foals earning stakes-placings on the NYRA circuit and her third foal finishing second in a Belmont maiden special weight in July. One of those stakes runners topped a previous edition of the Fasig-Tipton New York-bred Yearlings Sale where we bought this guy when she set an auction record at $775,000.
His damsire, Street Sense, a champion juvenile and Kentucky Derby winner himself, is an emerging top broodmare sire who is responsible in that category for the likes of international 2018 European Horse of the Year Roaring Lion and current MGSW filly Red Carpet Ready. A full-sister to dam Savvy Sassy produced MGSW/G1SP Plainsman and GSP Liam, and those two mares are 3/4-siblings to MGSW Southdale (Street Cry {Ire}). Third dam Pinafore Park beat the boys in the third leg of Canada’s Triple Crown, the Breeders’ S.
Eligible for the New York bred lucrative incentive program, this prospect will be based on the NYRA circuit with Christophe Clement. The French-born conditioner trained Savvy Sassy to two romping wins to start her own career. He’s saddled nearly 2,400 winners in North America, the earners of almost $164,418,692 and the likes of multiple champion Gio Ponti and Classic winner Tonalist.
***NOTE***
This horse is filed with the Jockey Club as a ridgling which simply means he is a male horse with one testicle or one descended testicle. This status does not affect how the horse is trained or campaigned.

Real Savvy Update
Real Savvy had his second breeze yesterday since shipping in to Payson Park, covering a half-mile in :51 flat. Team Clement has observed that he has been making some noise during training since rejoining the barn, and put a dynamic scope on him for the work to evaluate his airway while under the stress of […]
